Maccabi Haifa are training without Travante Stewart, Giorgi Yermakov, Petar Agba and Dixon Mohamed, who is set to officially join in September. The club will then have to decide whether to loan Mohamed out or place him in the youth setup.
The main focus at the Carmel is coach Barak Bachar, who is said to be highly active and dominant in training, projecting an atmosphere of change to the players. Club sources said he is trying to erase the disappointment of the past two seasons.
Bachar is credited with ending Haifa’s 10-year wait for a league title and, at a young age, becoming the joint record holder for Israeli championships with Dror Kashtan and Dovid Shwitzer, with six titles. A Maccabi Haifa official told Sport5, “Barak came hungry for this season, he really wanted to stay and fix last season because he believes in the squad.”
Meanwhile, the club is waiting for Dutch-Surinamese defender Radinio Balker, who has already agreed terms and wants to join. He is expected to arrive in Israel and sign a three-season contract with Maccabi Haifa, pending extensive medical tests.
