Rabbi Yosef Zvi Rimon, the rabbi of the Jerusalem College of Technology and the Gush Etzion Regional Council, said at a Channel 7 broadcast from the Lev Conference on science, technology and security at the Jerusalem College of Technology that Torah can lead to scientific and technological excellence, along with a sense of mission in all areas of life.
Rimon said the war had shown the power of purpose. “In our war we saw the power of mission,” he said. “We saw that when there is a mission, when there are values of Torah, people go again and again in an unbelievable way.” He added that “a mission of Torah also leads to development, to the mission of the people of Israel, also in science, also in academia.”
He also described what makes the Jerusalem College of Technology unique. In a place devoted to science and technology, he said, “the study hall is the center,” and Torah creates responsibility to excel, succeed, influence, create, and develop scientific and technological achievements that will affect both the country and the army. He said this should help make the Jewish people “better, more successful, more moral,” and, through Torah, illuminate the path of the national redemption process.
