A diplomat briefed on the US-Iran negotiations told Reuters that separate regional reconciliation talks between Iran and the Gulf states are being planned for Riyadh, the Saudi capital.
The diplomat said these discussions are distinct from the peace talks between Washington and Tehran. He added that the separate track also includes Iran, the Gulf Cooperation Council and Iraq, and is focused on the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the report, the Strait of Hormuz talks are meant to address mine-clearance arrangements in the waterway and possible future activity there. The source did not give a date for the talks, only that plans are underway for them to take place in Riyadh.
