State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman found that the Government Housing Administration in the Finance Ministry is managing thousands of state-owned buildings and properties without a complete, up-to-date inventory. The office is responsible for 6,607 buildings covering about 3.5 million square meters, but it still relies on a map and records that are roughly 25 years old.
According to the report, the administration also lacks sufficient information on key issues, including building protection and earthquake resistance. In particular, it has data on earthquake shielding for only about 20% of its office buildings.
The comptroller further said the administration is handling vacant properties worth more than 100 million shekels. The findings point to major gaps in oversight, planning, and basic asset management for state property. No remedy timeline was detailed in the text.
