What was meant to be a fun day at Six Flags Over Georgia turned into a frightening ordeal when a group of riders got stuck about 80 meters above the ground on a spinning swing ride. Video circulating on social media showed passengers hanging in the air and panicking after the attraction stopped unexpectedly.
According to the report, the riders remained suspended for several tens of minutes before the ride resumed and brought them safely back down. One passenger said the experience was so upsetting that it made her reconsider riding amusement park attractions in the future.
A Six Flags spokesman said the stop was caused by a technical delay, comparing it to a warning light in a car, and said the ride shut itself down as a safety measure. The park said, “The safety system functioned as designed and kept all guests safe.”
After a full systems check, the ride was returned to service. Despite the scare, some of the guests who had been stranded later went back on the attraction, and this time it operated without further problems.
