Maccabi Tel Aviv closed its season on Tuesday night by winning the Israeli championship, beating Hapoel Tel Aviv 3-1 in the playoff final series. With the title secured, attention has shifted to which parts of Oded Katash’s team will stay intact and which contracts still need to be resolved before next season.
Katash extended his own contract in April for three more seasons, so he is set to coach the team through the 2026-27 campaign. Assistant coach Guy Pnini is also expected to remain and is close to finalizing a new deal. Club general manager Claudio Coldebella is under contract through the end of next season, but there have been repeated reports that he could move to Roma’s new basketball project. Maccabi, however, says it still gets the impression he will continue as usual, even though sources in Italy say otherwise.
Several players are already secured. TJ Leaf, Gur Lavy, Will Rayman, Jaylen Hoard, Jimmy Clark and Roman Sorkin all have contracts and are expected to stay. Sorkin is also set for an improved financial deal. Oshae Brissett has one more season on his current contract, but he has already agreed to two additional years and the club has reopened his deal to give him a raise.
John Dibartolomeo is out of contract but has agreed to a two-year extension. Tamir Blatt and Iffe Lundberg are both out of contract and are still in negotiations for next season, with talks set to resume on Wednesday because of financial gaps. Loni Walker is under contract for next season and is part of the club’s plans, though he has an NBA opt-out clause until July 15. Zach Hankins is also out of contract, and while he was not originally expected to stay, he could still remain with the team.
