Maccabi Tel Aviv visited Hapoel Tel Aviv on Tuesday night in Game 4 of the Israeli league finals, needing a win to seal its 58th championship. After losing Game 3, the yellow-and-blues were trying to close the best-of-five series 3-1, again without injured guard Tamir Blatt.
Hapoel, coached by Dimitris Itoudis, wanted to keep its momentum alive and force a decisive Game 5. If needed, that game would be played on Thursday at Menora Mivtachim Arena, with Maccabi as the home team. Hapoel has not won a league title since 1969 and is chasing a long-awaited comeback.
Ahead of tipoff, Hapoel restored Donta Oturu to the roster in place of Jonathan Motley. The teams entered the game tied in a tense, high-stakes series that continued to draw major attention.
For Game 4, coach Oded Kattash kept Maccabi's starting five unchanged, with John DiBartolomeo, Iffe Lundberg, Will Rayman, Jaylen Hoard and Roman Sorkin. Itoudis started for Hapoel with Yam Madar, Vasilije Micic, Ish Wainright, Tomer Ginat and Tai Odiase.
