Two brothers from Tel Aviv, aged 24 and 17, were arrested after a violent disturbance at a medical institution in south Tel Aviv on Monday evening. Police said they shouted threats at a medical secretary and staff without any apparent reason, then escalated to physically attacking one of the employees, striking him in the upper body.
An off-duty officer from Tel Aviv South station, who was at the facility, saw the assault and intervened. He identified himself with his police credentials and stood between the attackers and the injured staff member, stopping the attack on the worker. The brothers then turned on the officer and beat him with repeated punches to his upper body.
Hospital staff called for reinforcements, and large police forces from the Ayalon district and Tel Aviv South station arrived quickly. Officers arrested the older brother at the scene, while the younger brother fled. Later that night, after realizing investigators knew who he was, the 17-year-old came to the police station voluntarily and was also arrested.
Both suspects were questioned on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, making threats, and assaulting public servants. On Tuesday morning, the 24-year-old was brought before court and his detention was extended, while the 17-year-old was released to house arrest under restrictive conditions. Police said violence in hospitals remains a major recurring problem and that they apply a zero-tolerance policy in such cases.
