Israeli winger Manor Solomon said in an interview on "Asnheim Mehost" that his last-minute move to Villarreal was a mistake and that he endured a wave of hostility after October 7. He said he received "hundreds of thousands" of hateful messages and felt "half depressed" during the period. The full interview is scheduled to air at 19:00 on 5SPORT.
Solomon also described the difficulty of being an Israeli player abroad in the current climate, saying that from the first moment he understood the move had gone wrong. He said that in the Villarreal dressing room, "there was a Moroccan player who did not shake my hand." The comments came as he recounted how he was received in Spain and how he felt personally after the transfer.
Much of the interview focused on his Tottenham and Leeds United future before the Villarreal switch. Solomon said he loved Leeds and its supporters, adding that when he first heard the crowd at Elland Road he told himself, "I arrived at the right place." He said he had wanted to stay either at Tottenham or Leeds at the end of the season, but both clubs discussed his situation and the transfer fee was high.
He described talks with Tottenham before preseason, saying they wanted him to stay and that coach liked him, but after six training sessions he was injured. Interest from Leeds faded, and later, when he returned to action, he was offered a move to Crystal Palace. Solomon said Spurs wanted him to remain, but after he flew to the national team he was told by Fini that Tottenham had a chance to sign a French striker and needed to free a squad spot, likely by moving him on. Solomon said he told him, "Go ahead and close Palace, I do not want to be in such a place," and added that he felt insulted by Tottenham and did not want to stay once he felt pushed out.
