Yossi Mizrachi, an investigative reporter for Channel 12 News, has been chosen as the 2025 Knight of Quality of Government in the media category, the Movement for Quality Government announced on Tuesday. The award recognizes his journalistic work and his role in exposing public wrongdoing.
In its citation, the committee said Mizrachi was selected for his “professional integrity, courage and determination in exposing public injustices and governmental failures.” It added that he places “the public interest and the public’s right to know above all,” and that he provides “reliable, accurate and well-founded information” while maintaining professional ethics, fairness and human sensitivity.
The committee said Mizrachi “realizes the historical role of free press as the ‘watchdog of democracy’” and described him as “an example and model of responsible journalism committed to the values of democracy, transparency and integrity.”
Other recipients this year include actress Rivka Michaeli, who will receive a lifetime achievement award, economist and Channel 13 workers’ committee chair Matan Hodorov, MK Merav Ben Ari, Reserve Maj. Gen. Nitzan Alon, attorney Shlomit Barnea Fargo, retired judge Varda Virt-Livne, Prof. Muhammad Wattad, Prof. Itai Ater, Dr. Hussain Tarbeh, Michal Czernobzinsky, and the organization Civil Aid, which opposes political violence. The public committee was headed by retired Justice Dalia Dorner, who said the awards honor people who contributed to society, democracy and good governance, at a time when “storms threatened the foundations of Israeli democracy and the rule of law.” The ceremony will take place on September 8 in Tel Aviv.
