A 15-year-old boy was killed early Monday in a fatal traffic accident on Route 40 near Beersheba, after the car he was traveling in overturned into a field beside the road. Emergency crews were called around 1:00 a.m. and were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene. A man in his 20s was also hurt and was evacuated to hospital in moderate condition.
Magen David Adom said the teen arrived at the scene in critical condition with severe injuries. Paramedic Itzik Yanai described the effort: “We saw the boy unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing, with very severe injuries to his body. We carried out medical checks, but unfortunately his injuries were extensive and all we could do was declare him dead. At the same time, we treated the man in his 20s who was moderately injured and evacuated him to the hospital.”
ZAKA volunteers from the Negev region, the Beersheba team, also responded and worked to preserve the dignity of the dead and collect evidence at the site. ZAKA Beersheba commander Shimon Zaguri and operations officer Nuriel Zaguri said they were called to the “fatal traffic accident” after the vehicle rolled into the field next to the road.
The article said this was the 203rd person killed in road accidents in Israel since the start of the year.
