Anduril’s approach would go beyond the model used by major American defense firms such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing, which typically integrate Israeli companies into their supply chains. In Israel, the company wants to add research and development and manufacturing. Luckey also showed interest in acquiring the Israeli startup Kela during his last visit, but its founders rejected a sale for now. Kela, a two-year-old startup, ranked fourth in Globes’ 2026 list of promising startups.
The company’s global strategy is built on local partnerships and rapid market entry. Anduril already has strategic ties with Germany’s Rheinmetall, working on Barracuda cruise missiles and Fury unmanned aircraft, and in South Korea it has a local presence through a joint venture with Korean Air. It also works with Hyundai Heavy Industries on unmanned surface and underwater vessels, and in Japan it opened a representative office in December as defense spending there rises.
Barracuda is marketed as about 30% cheaper than market price. The Barracuda-100 has a range of about 157 kilometers and carries a 15-kilogram warhead, the Barracuda-250 reaches about 370 kilometers with a 45-kilogram warhead, and the Barracuda-500 is air-launched, carries more than 45 kilograms, and is intended for roughly 926 kilometers. Fury, a stealthy unmanned aircraft, is expected to cost $25 million to $30 million, far below an F-35, and Washington wants it operational with the U.S. Air Force by 2029.
Anduril, founded in 2017 by Luckey and four others after he sold Oculus to Facebook for $2 billion, broke a defense-tech record in May with a $5 billion funding round valuing it at $61 billion. That was almost double its valuation from June last year, and the round was led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, with Josh Kushner among the prominent investors. CEO Brian Schimpf said the company doubled revenue to $2.2 billion in 2025, nearly doubled headcount, and moved more systems from development to production than ever before.
