Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Sariel, who commanded Israel’s Unit 8200 during the October 7 massacre, has founded a new company called Alma Labs, according to a report by Globes. The company was incorporated in February 2026, shortly after Sariel ended roughly three decades of service in the IDF and entered civilian life.
Corporate records show that Sariel and his partner, Uri David Alter, each hold 48.2% of the company and serve as directors. People familiar with the matter said Alma Labs is already in talks with various government bodies and could eventually become an exclusive supplier in its field.
The startup was formed before Sariel’s move to the artificial intelligence company Decart AI was publicly revealed. He now serves there as a board member, and the timeline indicates Alma Labs existed before that appointment became known. According to the report, Sariel is expected to continue in parallel at Decart while acting as CEO of Alma Labs.
Alma Labs’ newly launched website says the company offers an AI learning platform for middle school students, plus tools for teacher training and support for educational institutions. The company says it works with schools, local authorities, and education networks, and is recruiting partners ahead of the 2026 to 2027 school year. Another shareholder listed is Michal Dovdevani Misika, who holds about 2.5%.
Alma Labs did not respond to the report.
