Amir Strogo, a civil society figure and politician who previously served as CEO of the youth movement Achrai!, has officially joined Naftali Bennett’s Together party. Strogo is a reserve major in the Maglan unit and served as a deputy battalion commander in reserve service during the Iron Swords War.
According to the article, he was selected as an outstanding soldier by the IDF chief of staff for his command in fierce fighting in Gaza and along the Lebanese border. Bennett welcomed the move, saying he was proud to bring Strogo into what he called the party’s “team of repair,” and praised him as a “brave fighter and commander.”
Bennett also highlighted Strogo’s military record, saying that on October 7 he “rushed south without waiting for orders” and fought in the battles in Sderot and the Gaza border communities. He said Strogo has completed more than 400 days of reserve duty since then and called him both “a military hero and a civilian hero.”
Strogo is seen as a respected social and educational leader in Israel. He grew up in Ashkelon and now lives in the Negev, in Kibbutz Kramim, a mixed community of secular and religious residents. During his years at Achrai!, he promoted social unity and helped recruit thousands of teenagers from diverse sectors of Israeli society. Bennett said Strogo is the right person to join his effort to “fix Israel,” citing his ability to build bridges in the current political climate.
