Paris Saint-Germain host Bayern Munich at Parc des Princes in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal, with kickoff only hours away. The matchup pits two of Europe’s most dangerous attacking teams against each other and is expected to be a high-intensity, high-scoring tie.
Just before the game, French President Emmanuel Macron weighed in on the contest. “I am a Marseille fan, but today I am supporting Paris as France’s representative. The result? In my opinion, it will end 3-1 for Paris,” he said.
That prediction is optimistic based on recent history. In the last five meetings between the clubs, from 2023 through last November, Bayern won four and PSG won one. The last time PSG scored three goals against Bayern was in a 3-2 win in April 2021 in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal, a tie Paris advanced from after a 3-3 aggregate draw on away goals.
The rivalry has also been heated. In the last three meetings between the sides, four players were sent off, three from PSG, Ousmane Dembele, Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez, and one from Bayern, Luis Diaz. Sport 5 also published the expected lineups for both teams ahead of the semifinal.
