Maccabi Tel Aviv center Roman Sorkin endured one of the worst games of his career on Sunday night, finishing the third game of the championship series without a point. He went 0-for-5 from the field and added three rebounds in the loss, marking a rare scoreless outing for a player who had been a key difference-maker in the Israeli league.
Sorkin, 29, had scored 21 points in the previous game, but this time he was contained by Vasilije Micic. It was the first time in his career that he finished a playoff game without scoring. Until now, he had scored in every playoff appearance he had made.
The last time Sorkin failed to score in an Israeli Premier League game was in March 2022, when he was held scoreless in nine minutes against Hapoel Be'er Sheva. Earlier this February, he still managed to get on the board, with one point in 12 minutes and two points in 18 minutes.
His three rebounds were low but not unusual for him, as he had also grabbed only two rebounds in 30 minutes in the second game against Hapoel Holon. This season, Sorkin averaged 12 points in 20.7 minutes per game in the domestic league, and 13.5 points on 51.6% shooting in 22.9 minutes per game in the EuroLeague.
