Alba Berlin won the German championship for the 12th time in club history, beating Bayern Munich 84-81 on the road in the decisive fifth game of the final series. The Berlin club completed a remarkable second-half comeback after trailing by 20 points at halftime, 47-27.
The victory came after Alba had already fallen behind 2-1 in the series, making Game 5 in Munich a must-win for Pedro Calles' team. Their opening 20 minutes were poor, but they turned the game around with a dominant second half, especially a 31-15 final quarter.
Andy Obst led Bayern with 24 points, including 4-of-14 shooting from three-point range, but it was not enough. Justin Bean finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Jonas Mattissek also scored 18 points to help Alba secure the title in dramatic fashion.
