MK Tally Gotliv on Sunday gave emphatic backing to Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana after he rejected a High Court of Justice compromise proposal. The court had suggested holding a repeat vote for the state comptroller election, but Ohana told the justices in a clear letter that the proposal was refused, saying, "The Knesset has spoken."
Gotliv praised Ohana’s response as an example of strong governance. "Well done to Knesset Speaker MK Amir Ohana the amazing. This is how you govern, and only this way," she said. She added a sharp attack on judicial involvement in decisions made by the sovereign legislature, saying, "Only this way. The High Court should know its place. It is not the Knesset’s nanny, and that is not what the High Court was intended for."
She also criticized opposition lawmakers who had called for accepting the compromise, arguing that their stance keeps them on the political margins. "The opposition is welcome to keep complaining, and that is why it will always remain the opposition," she said.
