Yinon Magal argued on June 21, 2026, that in a complex and difficult situation, the public should stand behind the government and the State of Israel rather than look for new ways to blame Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Magal said the current crisis is complicated and that, in such moments, people are expected to support the state during its hard time. He criticized those now attacking Netanyahu, asking why they are suddenly searching for reasons to make him responsible after previously praising him for bringing Donald Trump on board.
He said Trump had unexpectedly changed course and that Israel had acted alongside him against Iran, calling Iran Israel’s greatest enemy. Magal recalled that critics had described Netanyahu’s biggest achievement as being the first Israeli leader to bring Trump to jointly strike Iran.
He added that only a moment earlier, those same critics had argued that Israel was a client state of the United States, and he questioned whether they were now simply trying to blame Netanyahu for everything. Magal said he understood holding Netanyahu responsible for the October 7 attack, but said he did not see what else Netanyahu could have done in this case.
