Last week, the Dushinsky Rebbe visited Bnei Brak and prayed Mincha with the older boys of the Dushinsky Torah school, known as “Maharit Dushinsky.” The school, which has operated for nearly 50 years, is one of the city’s older religious institutions. Founded in strict holiness by the Dushinsky Rebbe Maharim, the Jerusalem chief rabbi, it was the first Dushinsky institution established outside Jerusalem and became the starting point for the movement’s educational network in Israel and abroad.
After the prayer service, the Rebbe gave a brief address urging the students to return to their studies with greater diligence. At the end of the event, supervisors and teachers came forward to receive his blessing.
Then, on Sunday last week, ahead of the minor fast and prayer service on the eve of Rosh Chodesh, the Rebbe spoke briefly to the yeshiva students of the chasidic group. He referred to the difficult situation in the Land of Israel and to the looming military draft decree affecting the Jewish public, and called on the students to strengthen themselves in Torah study as the response. He said that the Holy One, blessed be He, is arousing the public through these trials in order to increase Torah learning.
As a result, the Rebbe asked that the yeshivas hold continuous study shifts in the study halls from 6 a.m. until midnight, with no interruption. In the past few days, all the movement’s yeshiva students have reportedly signed up for at least one straight hour of study dedicated to God. The article says the yeshiva halls now present an impressive scene of Torah learning heard loudly, day and night.
