Maccabi Tel Aviv still has an option through the end of the month to extend Amir Sahiti’s stay, but the winger has not yet decided whether he wants to continue in Israel. The club would need to pay Hamburg 500,000 euros to turn the loan into a permanent transfer, but Sahiti’s personal contract has not been finalized, so the option can only be exercised if his terms are also agreed.
The issue has become part of the wider planning work of Maccabi’s new sporting director, Steven Vanharen, alongside expected changes on the bench and discussions about Israeli players, especially Dor Peretz. At the moment, however, the Sahiti deal is not moving forward.
The main reason is Sahiti’s hesitation over returning to Tel Aviv while Israel remains under attack and the war with Iran is not over. In recent days, he has been waiting to see whether the United States and Iran would at least sign a memorandum of understanding to end the war.
Sahiti wants assurance that if he comes back, he will not again face sirens and rocket fire like he did during the last season. He left Israel for a period and only returned after the ceasefire. Maccabi, meanwhile, has not made a final decision that it definitely wants him and is still considering other options for the wing position.
