The hearing in Benjamin Netanyahu’s trial resumed on Sunday at the Jerusalem District Court, where Eli Levi, one of the main investigators in the so-called “Cases 1000,” struggled under cross-examination by defense attorney Amit Hadad. The defense presented documents and evidence it said showed investigative steps were taken without a judicial warrant, some records were backdated, the investigation was poorly documented, and an evidence binder sent to the prosecution went missing.
Levi acknowledged that some of the actions had been carried out without a court order, and he was unable to give clear answers to a series of contradictions raised during the session. Additional claims were aired about documents prepared on different dates and procedures that were not followed properly. The defense argued that these were serious failures that undermine the credibility of the investigation and the integrity of the proceedings.
The prosecution continued to stand by the conduct of the investigation and the evidence gathered in it. After hours of cross-examination, the hearing adjourned and is expected to continue in the coming days.
