Kyle Bevan, the man convicted of murdering two-year-old Lola James, was killed inside Wakefield prison in West Yorkshire, Britain, by three fellow inmates. Prosecutors said the attack lasted less than five minutes, and the men then placed his body on the bed to make it look as if he was asleep, delaying discovery until the next morning’s prisoner count.
Bevan, 33, was serving a life sentence after being convicted in 2023 of killing Lola, the young daughter of his partner. The court found that the child had more than 100 injuries and that Bevan had beaten her brutally, causing a fatal head injury. He had been given a minimum term of 28 years.
The attackers were identified as Mark Fellows, Lee Newell and David Taylor. According to the evidence, they followed Bevan to his fourth-floor cell, used improvised weapons, including a metal piece taken from a television, and stabbed him more than 20 times, including in the chest and heart area. They did not call for help. Prosecutors said the three appeared “satisfied” after the assault, and the judge described the killing as calculated and cruel.
Taylor already had a serious murder conviction and was sentenced to a whole life order for Bevan’s killing. Fellows and Newell were already serving whole life orders for previous murders, so none of the three is expected ever to be released. The case reignited concern about violence at Wakefield, nicknamed “Monster Mansion” because of the number of dangerous prisoners held there. Weeks earlier, in October 2025, former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins was also murdered there after being convicted of serious child sex offenses.
