The owner of a daycare in Kiryat Gat is suspected of inventing a break-in in order to conceal video recordings that parents had demanded to see after hearing audio in which staff allegedly shouted at and cursed at their children. The report was published Sunday morning on Kan News, Radio 2.
According to one recording obtained by the outlet, an assistant is heard saying about one girl, "She already got hit on the hands." In another clip, the teacher is heard describing a child as "a bitch" and saying, "I now need to change her," while the assistant replies, "Throw him in the crib."
The next day, when the parents asked to watch the recordings as usual, the daycare owner summoned them to the facility and told them that during the night the kindergarten had been broken into and the recording device stolen. The parents did not believe the story and filed a police complaint on suspicion of abuse. Officers then arrived at the daycare to collect evidence.
Police said the owner was questioned under caution and is also suspected of obstructing an investigation. She was released to house arrest. In a statement, police said that upon receiving the report, they opened an investigation that included witness statements and the collection of evidence and findings, and that the probe is continuing "to reach the truth and bring all those involved to justice."
