From Davidovich being thrown off air to declaring Solberg an "enemy": Black Hats panel erupts
The current affairs program of Kikar HaShabbat, "Black Hats," the show that dares to touch the most exposed wounds of the sector, in a new and stormy episode at Kikar Studios hosted by Yossi Sergovski, in the midst of an unprecedented security and political upheaval. This week’s panel featured: Dolev Davidovich, media personality and haredi hasbara activist; Dr. Chaim Golovnitz, Orientalist and researcher; Yossi Stark, journalist and haredi media figure; Kfir Heyman, one of the leaders of the "Reservists" party, who left combat yesterday and is returning tomorrow.
The episode opened with the first response to the video that stirred the web last week, in which the program’s panelist, Dolev Davidovich, was seen being thrown live out of Eyal Berkowitz’s studio on Channel 13 News. Dolev responded for the first time in the studio, "It was simply holding up a mirror to Berko, who sits there preaching in the name of reservists while he himself was a sprinkler installer in the army. Whoever raises his voice and throws someone out of the studio, he is the one who lost the argument."
"We will strike Iran hard tonight": the plans from Trump’s dramatic discussion are revealed
"I love it": four words from Trump stunned the journalists
Also in the program’s concept, the weekly headline, the war with Iran and Trump’s trap, the discussion opened with the complex security equation מול Tehran. Dr. Chaim Golovnitz analyzed the situation and argued that the American administration is working toward a new and long-term nuclear agreement, contrary to Israel’s interests, while Iran has succeeded in linking the Lebanon and Gaza fronts. Yossi Stark defended Netanyahu’s maneuvers מול the administration, while reservist Kfir Heyman demanded a red line for Washington: "It is very bad that we become the 51st star on the American flag, a friend needs to know how to say, enough."
People’s section, the attack near Justice Solberg’s home and the anarchy, the escalation in the protests reached the studio with the arrest of the extremists who surrounded the police station in Beit Shemesh and the attack near the home of Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg. While Kfir Heyman was shocked by the attempt to extort a conservative judge, considered especially sensitive to the haredi public, Dolev Davidovich caused a major סערה when he stated that he opposes the attack only for tactical reasons, but defined Solberg as an "enemy" because of his promotion of legislation against the Torah, and declared: "I am subject to Torah law, not to the laws of the Military Advocate General and the attorney general." Yossi Stark surprised everyone when he claimed he was not shocked, since it is time the judges understand what the public feels.
Weekly news, Deri’s visit to prison and the Basic Law on Torah study, the panelists discussed the dramatic visit by Aryeh Deri and Yitzhak Goldknopf to the haredi draft evaders imprisoned in the military prison. Kfir Heyman sharply attacked Deri: "How are you not ashamed? That same morning you sent me and my friends for another 140 days of risk in Lebanon and Gaza from the cabinet, and in the afternoon you go visit draft evaders?" At the same time, the Basic Law on Torah study recently presented was described by Yossi Stark as "a fiction and a political spin" intended solely to prevent the dissolution of the Knesset after the demand of the late Rabbi Dov Landau.
Trending online, the attack on the attorney general and the failure of the haredi representatives, the shouting by haredi Knesset members at the attorney general in the Knesset committee drew harsh criticism from Kfir Heyman, who accused the haredi MKs of complete failure and populist legislation that only makes the sector hated: "The haredi MKs failed completely. Instead of going to hospitals and visiting the wounded, they are causing yeshiva students in Kiryat Sefer to walk with their heads bowed under the ground in shame."
Also on the panel, who was their person of the week? Dr. Chaim Golovnitz chose Aryeh Deri, sarcastically for being an "artful negotiator"; Yossi Stark chose Moti Leitner, deputy mayor of Beit Shemesh, who presents a different politics of action; Kfir Heyman chose Yoez Hendel, who inserted himself as a reserve battalion commander in the midst of the primaries campaign; and Dolev Davidovich chose Yair Golan, who is going to canvass for votes in Kiryat Shmona, in stark contrast to his liberal outlook.
