The United Nations International School in New York canceled its eighth-grade year-end party after ynet reported that students had written swastikas and antisemitic or homophobic remarks in yearbooks. The incident prompted the school administration to confiscate more than 30 yearbooks and identify nearly 20 students suspected of involvement.
In a formal message to parents, the administration said the situation was too serious for a celebration at this time. It wrote that “the severity of the situation and the broader impact on our community make the current timing inappropriate for a celebration.”
