A Hong Kong Express low-cost flight turned into a medical emergency after severe weather in Hong Kong forced the plane to divert. Flight UO131 was rerouted to Shenzhen (SZX) instead of its planned destination, and what is normally about a one-hour trip stretched into roughly eight hours because the aircraft was delayed at Shenzhen airport.
During the long wait on board, one passenger, reported to have a heart condition, became ill and fainted. The incident escalated quickly as the delay continued and the crew had to deal with the sudden medical crisis while passengers remained on the aircraft.
Emergency medical teams were called to the plane, and the passenger was given oxygen and underwent extensive medical treatment. The report says the drama unfolded after the weather-related diversion, but it does not say how the passenger is currently doing or whether the flight later continued to its destination.
