Israel’s Northern Command issued an updated notice on Friday morning to communities along the Lebanon border, after heavy explosions were heard overnight and into the morning across the sector. The command said the blasts were caused by ongoing Israeli military activity and gave residents an updated picture of what to expect in the coming hours.
In its message to local leaders and residents, the command said: “We are after an extremely difficult night, during which there were serious violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah.” The army said the large-scale air force and artillery operations were a necessary response to Hezbollah’s actions, adding, “As a result, we were required to respond with strong force.”
The military stressed that its offensive activity in Lebanon is not close to ending, and that calm is not expected to return soon. According to the command, “IDF strikes will continue in the coming hours, and the explosions will be heard throughout the area.”
Despite the intense exchange of fire and the local escalation, security officials sought to reassure civilians that no unusual protective measures are currently required. Northern Command concluded that there is, for now, no change in the civilian home-front defense policy, and residents should continue following the usual instructions issued by Home Front Command.
