Retired major general Michel Yanko, who recently served as head of the IDF Technology and Logistics Directorate, will be appointed chairman of the active board of Mega DC, the Mega Or subsidiary that concentrates the group’s server farm operations. Yanko was already named a director at Mega Or after leaving the military, and will now head one of the conglomerate’s most important businesses.
The move comes as Mega Or reshapes its business mix. For years the company was best known for shopping centers and logistics real estate, but over the past two years data centers have become one of its main growth stories. The stock has risen sharply, Mega Or joined the Tel Aviv 35 index, and its market value climbed to 24 billion shekels before easing to 21.5 billion shekels today.
Much of that valuation shift has been based on expectations for the data center arm. According to the company’s plans, Mega DC is currently advancing seven data centers at different planning and construction stages, with total capacity of 313 megawatts, alongside land reserves for future expansion. Mega Or already operates live facilities and provides services to customers, and its latest reports estimate that by the end of 2028 the data center business will account for about 65% of operating income.
Yanko served in the IDF for more than three decades. From 2021 to 2025 he headed the Technology and Logistics Directorate, which oversees logistics, technology, medicine, maintenance and infrastructure, including during the Gaza war, when he managed these systems amid large-scale reserve mobilization and prolonged fighting on several fronts. He previously served as chief technology and maintenance officer and as head of the Personnel Directorate’s staff.
