Game 2 of the playoff final series between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv produced drama on the court on Thursday night, but also an ugly incident in the stands. Camilla Frommelt Andersen, the wife of Maccabi guard Iffe Lundberg, wrote in an Instagram story that a Hapoel fan threw food and a flag at their 6-year-old son while he was cheering for his father and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Alongside a photo in which she appeared to identify the fan in the crowd, Frommelt Andersen wrote that it was “disgusting” to see “a grown man” throw food and a flag at a child “just cheering for his dad and his team.” She said that when the man was confronted, he justified himself by saying the boy was a legitimate target because he was wearing a yellow shirt, adding, “Child!!!!”
She later addressed the fan directly, writing, “Man, go to therapy. You are disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.” At the bottom of the story she added, “By the way, I invite you to come on Sunday and meet my husband face to face. He really wants to meet you.”
Lundberg reposted his wife’s story on his own Instagram account, giving her allegations additional exposure. The Danish guard was one of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s standout players in its 102-98 victory, which gave the team a 2-0 lead in the final series and moved it one win away from the championship.
