Maccabi Tel Aviv moved to a 2-0 lead over Hapoel Tel Aviv in the playoff final series on Thursday and came close to the championship, but the game also produced an ugly incident in the stands. The wife of Maccabi star Isiaha Lundberg, who scored 25 points, said a Hapoel supporter attacked their 6-year-old son during the game.
In a social media post, she wrote that she saw “an adult throwing food and a flag at a little boy who was just cheering for his father and the team.” She said that when they approached the man, he told them the child was a “legitimate target” because he was wearing yellow. “This is a child,” she wrote, adding, “Go get help, man. You are f***ing disgusting and should be ashamed of yourself.”
She also challenged the fan to come to Game 3 on Sunday and meet her husband face to face, saying, “He really wants to meet you.” The couple had been seated alongside the wife of Oshae Brissett among Hapoel fans, but during halftime they were moved from the stands to the court, where they sat near the coaching staff and players who were not in the lineup.
Lundberg’s wife later documented the same Hapoel fan on her Instagram account. Speaking to Sport Channel, she described the experience as “unpleasant and aggressive,” saying she had never imagined something like that could happen. “We felt more comfortable on the court, but it is an experience we will remember,” she said.
