The Tel Aviv District Court has filed a combined indictment against seven additional defendants over their alleged role in a lynching on the Bat Yam promenade five years ago, during Operation Guardian of the Walls. Judge Sarit Zamir said most of the defendants acted out of nationalist and racist motives and convicted them, among other offenses, of an act of terrorism and aggravated intentional injury.
In her ruling, Zamir described how Saeed Musa, a resident of Ramla, “found himself fighting for his life against an angry mob of people who attacked him again and again with cruelty, only because he was Arab.” According to the indictment, dozens of people arrived at the scene, vandalized and looted businesses, and then attacked Musa after identifying him as Arab.
The mob chased Musa’s vehicle, dragged him out by force, and beat him with punches, kicks, sticks, a stun device, and a scooter. He suffered serious injuries. The case is tied to the violent unrest that accompanied the 2021 conflict and is now moving forward with the new, consolidated charges.
