Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a permanent restraining order for five years against 31-year-old William Applegate after she said he repeatedly appeared at her home and returned even after being arrested. Carpenter asked the court for protection last month, saying Applegate showed up at her Los Angeles residence on May 23 without invitation and tried to enter through the front door.
In her filing, Carpenter described his behavior as “deliberate, calculated and aggressive.” She also submitted Ring camera images showing him at her front door. Carpenter said her security staff confronted Applegate, who refused to leave and pretended to know her, even though she said she had never met or contacted him.
Police arrested Applegate after that confrontation, but Carpenter said he came back to her home less than 24 hours later and again the following day, prompting another police response. After a temporary restraining order was issued, the case went to court this week.
Applegate testified and opposed the request, but the judge rejected his claims and ordered him to stay at least about 90 meters away from Carpenter, her sister Sarah, and her partner George for the next five years. Applegate had previously argued that Carpenter did not actually want the order and that it was part of a “conspiracy” by people around her, but the court ruled in Carpenter’s favor.
