Harry Kane added another milestone to his career at the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday night, scoring as England went ahead 1-0 against Croatia. The Bayern Munich striker, who missed the decisive penalty against France in the 2022 quarterfinals, has now reached nine goals in World Cup history.
Five of Kane’s World Cup goals have come from penalties, and he has done it across three different tournaments. By moving to nine, he moved one goal ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, who had a tougher evening in Portugal’s 1-1 draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Kane is now just one goal behind Gary Lineker, England’s all-time leading World Cup scorer, who finished with 10. Overall, Kane has scored 80 goals for England in 115 appearances, making him the national team’s all-time top scorer.
