Model Fay Jakite, who won the seventh season of Israel’s "The Amazing Race" with Tia Galili about seven years ago, was involved in a serious chain-reaction collision and escaped with only bruises. In an Instagram post, she described the crash and shared a grim photo of her wrecked car, saying she had read the prayer "HaGomel" and thanked God, but was still shaken by what happened on the road. She said the accident involved four vehicles and that the shock of realizing she had no control was unlike anything she had experienced before.
Jakite wrote that she has faced life-threatening and extreme situations before, but nothing compared with the terror of that split second. She said the thoughts of what could have happened, and how one alert driver and her seat belt kept the situation from becoming a disaster, kept flooding her mind. Despite the severity of the crash, she stressed that she left with only bruises that hurt with every breath and that her body was otherwise intact.
Even with the pain, she returned to work the same day because she is in an especially busy period of work and creation and felt she could not miss it. But she said the experience quickly made clear that the accident would stay with her, describing it as a jolt from life itself while she was chasing goals and building her career. She added that it felt as if God, or the universe, had put a hand on her shoulder and forced her to stop.
Jakite said the event will not leave her soon and will sit with her whenever she is in a car, physically and mentally. Still, she ended on a note of gratitude, saying she had been given her life as a gift once again and was thankful for the miracle, her breath, and the chance to live more consciously without taking anything for granted.
