Mashkem, Israel’s largest employer of people with disabilities, is expanding its northern operations with a new sewing workshop in Kisra-Samia. The facility is expected to employ about 100 women and provide them with professional, stable work while helping integrate them into the labor market.
The company said the new workshop is part of a broader effort to create additional employment frameworks in Israel’s periphery. Mashkem already operates factories, employment centers, gardening teams, and sewing workshops in many northern communities, including Tiberias, Kiryat Shmona, Ma’alot-Tarshiha, Yanuh-Jat, Safed, Acre, Nahariya, Hatzor HaGlilit, Karmiel, and Nof Hagalil.
According to the company, the new site strengthens the spread of services and employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the region. Mashkem also said the opening comes during a difficult period for the organization, and described the workshop as an important step showing why it is necessary to maintain adapted, professional, and respectful employment settings for people with disabilities across the country.
