A two-week restoration effort is underway at Herod’s Pool, also known as Pisal Pool, with volunteers, including teenagers, cleaning the site and helping renew the area. The work has continued alongside a steady refill of the pool, and organizers say the public is invited to come, take part, and help restore the pool and its surroundings.
Coordination for the project is being handled in part through a WhatsApp group, which serves as a hub for updates and task planning. The effort is being led by Inbal Lamberger, a photographer focused on documenting nature.
At the same time, COGAT said it is examining the water flow in the area after reports of damage to an authorized water infrastructure line and its connection to Herod’s Pool without approval. In its response to Channel 7, COGAT said that under the interim agreements and existing arrangements in the area, water from Pisal Pool had been routed for agricultural use in nearby areas.
COGAT added that professional teams are now reviewing the situation and working to regulate the water flow in line with the law and binding agreements. Alongside the field activity, settlement-related sources told Channel 7 that questions remain about the pool’s water source, how it has been allocated over the years, whether that allocation was ever formalized publicly, and what the source’s status will be after the current review.
