The Jerusalem District Court on Wednesday issued a temporary injunction freezing Likud’s party conference, which had been scheduled for June 28, 2026. The decision means the gathering will not go ahead as planned for now.
The ruling came after a surprise move by Likud’s legal adviser, attorney Amit Hadad, who told the court he agreed to the petition seeking to stop the conference. The court therefore ordered that the party not hold the event on the planned date.
In its order, the court wrote: “A temporary injunction is hereby issued prohibiting the respondent from holding the party conference on 28.6.26.” It also said the matter would continue to be examined in depth at a further hearing set for June 22, when the court will consider the request on its merits.
Likud’s conference is regarded as the party’s central power forum, so halting it at the last minute has major political implications. In recent weeks, questions had been raised inside the party about the way the conference date was set and about the procedures surrounding it. The cancellation also stops any decisions planned for the conference, including strategic resolutions and appointments that were expected to receive formal approval.
