A road dispute in Tamra escalated into violence after a 22-year-old local resident allegedly attacked a minibus driver and smashed the vehicle’s windows. According to an indictment filed on Wednesday, the incident took place on May 13, 2026, on an internal street in the city, when a private car driver and a shuttle minibus met on a narrow road.
Police said the minibus driver signaled the other driver to go first because of the road’s width, but an argument followed. At one point, the suspect allegedly got out of his car, opened the minibus door and assaulted the driver severely enough to cause facial injuries and require medical treatment.
The indictment says the suspect then picked up a large stone and used it to shatter the minibus windows before fleeing the scene. Northern District police opened an investigation, arrested the suspect, and later turned the case over to the Galilee North Prosecution Unit.
He was charged in the Acre Magistrate’s Court with aggravated assault causing actual bodily harm and malicious damage to a vehicle.
