U.S. Vice President JD Vance defended the understanding reached with Iran in an interview overnight with former Fox News host Megyn Kelly. He rejected harsh criticism from right-wing American and Israeli commentators, saying some of them were repeating "Iranian propaganda" and had exaggerated the deal’s flaws.
Vance specifically referred to Israeli host Yinon Mגל, who had called him a "scum" and President Donald Trump a "loser" on X, and to conservative radio host Mark Levin, who demanded that the agreement be fully disclosed and submitted to Congress. Kelly described Mגל as a mouthpiece for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Asked about the attacks, Vance said, "I wonder why they call it the 'Vance deal' and not the 'Trump deal'." He added that critics seem to want the confrontation to continue indefinitely, saying, "They want the conflict to continue until the last bomb is dropped or until the last Iranian dies. That is not what the President of the United States wants."
Vance argued that Trump had already achieved his objectives by damaging Iran’s nuclear program, reducing its ability to threaten neighboring countries, and preventing what he described as a terrorist regime from obtaining nuclear weapons. He said the administration can now move to negotiations and see what more can be achieved. He also pointed to lower oil prices after an initial spike when the confrontation began, saying that easing energy prices reduces pressure on American consumers. After Vance’s remarks, Mגל posted on X, "I am with Rubio."
