Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir announced on Friday that Knesset Member Tal Gottlieb will be placed in the second position on the Otzma Yehudit party's list for the upcoming elections. This declaration comes after Gottlieb's departure from the Likud party to join Ben Gvir's Otzma Yehudit.
Ben Gvir revealed that Gottlieb was initially slated for the third seat, but Knesset Member Yitzhak Wasserlauf relinquished his position to her, securing her the second spot. The Likud party had previously confirmed Gottlieb's intention to run in the 26th Knesset elections on the Otzma Yehudit slate.
Under an agreement between Likud and Gottlieb, she will not be officially declared a "defector" from the Likud bloc and will continue to adhere to its voting discipline in the Knesset until the formation of the next parliament. This arrangement is intended to allow Gottlieb to maintain her current Knesset membership and parliamentary immunity until the elections.
