Prosecutor's Office Delays Decision on Charging MK Aida Touma-Sliman for Traffic Offense

The decision on whether to indict Knesset Member Aida Touma-Sliman is being delayed by the State Prosecutor's Office for nine months, despite the case being a straightforward traffic violation. Touma-Sliman, a member of the Hadash party, is suspected of running a red light at an intersection in Acre in May 2025, causing an accident that injured a driver who had the right of way.

During her police investigation, Touma-Sliman stated that to the best of her recollection, the traffic light was green, but she did not commit to this assertion. However, evidence in the case reportedly indicates she clearly ran a red light.

The entire process has been characterized by delays. The police investigation itself was postponed for months, and the case was only transferred to the prosecution in December 2025, following its exposure by i24NEWS. Since then, the case has awaited a final decision due to the required chain of approvals for indicting a sitting Knesset member.

In response to inquiries, the State Prosecutor's Office stated, "The case is in advanced stages of review."
