The International Conference on Israeli Heritage in Judea and Samaria opened on Tuesday in a ceremonial event at the historic Herodium site. The gathering was meant to deepen public understanding of the Jewish people’s historical and archaeological connection to these areas and drew public figures and supporters of Israel from abroad.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee was the guest of honor and was interviewed exclusively by C14 reporter Shira Krips. Huckabee said the visit moved him and described Herodium as "an amazing biblical site and a great place to be."
He said that every time he comes to Israel, he discovers new layers of history. "Just when you think you have seen everything, something else comes up and you realize you can never fully exhaust the extraordinary history of this amazing land," he said.
Huckabee also addressed the possibility that President Donald Trump might visit heritage sites in Judea and Samaria. He said he plans to recommend the trip to Trump, telling Krips that he will likely meet him next week in Washington and will tell him that if he does not come, he is missing something spectacular.
