Ofer Winter Vows Not to Serve Under Bennett, Lieberman

Ofer Winter, chairman of the "Am Yisrael" party, has pledged not to join a government led by Naftali Bennett or Avigdor Lieberman. During an interview with Amit Segal, Winter invoked the biblical verse "If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill" to emphasize his commitment.

When asked directly if he would refuse to serve under them, Winter stated, "I will not sit and I will not do the thing that I did not like that they did to me." He elaborated that he opposes a situation where a small party ultimately secures the premiership and when voters' choices are disregarded in favor of alliances with "anti-Zionist Arab parties."

Segal sought confirmation, asking, "And therefore you won't do it, you're saying?" to which Winter replied, "I will not do it."

Pressed specifically about serving under Lieberman, Winter reiterated his stance, quoting the verse and adding, "I am telling you, I am telling you: 'If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.' I say this, they say this... every Jew says this."

Winter further explained his position, stating, "I tell myself: there are things I will not tarnish my name with. Not me, and not the people who are with me in the party." These declarations gain significance amid ongoing political maneuvering, as Winter clarifies that forming a government under a small party or relying on Arab parties deemed anti-Zionist is unacceptable to him and his party.
