Beitar Jerusalem FC Backs Coach Almog Cohen Amid Poor League Start

Despite a disappointing 3-0 loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv and a winless start to the Israeli Premier League season, Beitar Jerusalem FC is standing by its coach, Almog Cohen. The team has lost both of its opening matches, conceding seven goals while scoring only one.

Club owner Barak Abramov publicly affirmed his support for Cohen, stating, "Almog Cohen is not going anywhere. He is a top-tier professional." Abramov expressed confidence that the team's performance will improve once the squad is healthy and bolstered by an additional foreign player.

Cohen himself acknowledged the team's poor performance but remained unfazed by criticism, drawing parallels to his early career where he faced doubts. He and Abramov addressed the players after the loss, urging them to focus and ignore external noise, emphasizing their collective belief in the team.

Preparations are already underway for Beitar Jerusalem's next match against Bnei Sakhnin on Monday. Several players, including Nana Antwi, Gil Cohen, and Yarden Cohen, are expected to increase their training intensity. Additionally, Giovanny Calo and Shon Weissman are likely to return to the starting lineup, with Tomer Yosefi also a possibility.
