Jerusalem Police Stop Dog Riding Motorcycle, Driver Faces Court

Police in Jerusalem stopped a motorcyclist after officers observed a dog sitting in front of the rider, secured by a strap and with its paws on the handlebars. This unusual sight surprised even experienced officers, as transporting animals in such a manner is prohibited and known to be illegal for motorcyclists. The presence of the dog obstructing the handlebars also posed a safety risk, potentially interfering with the rider's control of the vehicle.

Upon stopping the motorcyclist, police discovered that the license plates were deliberately obscured with mud, presumably to evade identification by cameras. Due to the combination of violations, including the unsafe transport of an animal and tampering with license plates, the driver was not issued a fine but instead received a summons to appear in court. The court will determine the appropriate penalty, which is expected to include a significant suspension of the driver's license. The dog will likely not be permitted to ride on the motorcycle again.
