Smotrich Invites Ofer Winter to Urgent Meeting on Right-Wing Union
With five days remaining until the deadline for party list submissions, Bezalel Smotrich, leader of the Religious Zionism party and Finance Minister, has publicly invited Ofer Winter, leader of the "Am Israel" party, to an immediate meeting to discuss a potential union ahead of the upcoming elections. Smotrich made the call during a special press conference on Thursday, where he presented a Direct Polls survey. The poll indicated that 90% of "Am Israel" voters support a merger of right-wing parties.
According to the data presented by Smotrich, the survey was conducted among 1,248 adult respondents from the coalition bloc. In addition to the 90% support among "Am Israel" voters, the poll reportedly showed 95% support for a union among Likud voters and 96% among voters for Religious Zionism and Otzma Yehudit.
Smotrich's invitation to Winter, extended at the conclusion of his statement, signals a push to consolidate right-wing political forces. The timing is critical, as parties finalize their electoral slates.
