New Commander Takes Over Golan Brigade After Two Years of Fighting on the Syrian Front

Colonel Y' took command of the Golan Brigade (474) yesterday, Tuesday, in a handover ceremony held at the Gamla Nature Reserve. Colonel Y' replaces Colonel Beni Kata, who served in the role over the past two years and will now lead the Southern District in the Home Front Command.

The handover ceremony was held under the leadership of Northern Command chief Major General Rafi Milo and 210th Division commander Brigadier General Yair Palai, with the participation of commanders, soldiers and families.

In remarks by Brigadier General Yair Palai, commander of the 210th Division, he emphasized the importance of the Golan Brigade, which was established out of an operational need to defend the home front. Palai said that Brigade 474 stands firm and carries out its missions, especially during Operation "Arrows of Bashan," in which it seized significant areas in Syria. He praised Colonel Kata for leading the brigade to impressive achievements in the "War of Rebirth," during a historic period filled with operational activity amid a changing reality.

Outgoing brigade commander Colonel Beni Kata stressed the strength of the Golan Brigade personnel, both regular and reserve, who stand firm against the enemy on the northeastern border. He noted the profound change the brigade has undergone, including strengthening ties with Golan residents and establishing outposts inside Syria.

Incoming commander Colonel Y' said he felt great pride and enormous responsibility for the command, and pledged to lead the noble mission of defending this area and its residents, who are an "anchor of national resilience."

Colonel Y' added that the Golan Brigade has been defending heroically for more than two and a half years, adapting to the changing reality and engaging the enemy whenever possible. He said the brigade shapes and influences the defense concept in the sector in order to create a better security reality. The incoming commander thanked Colonel Kata for leading the brigade to impressive achievements and wished him success in his new role, while hoping he will be able to spend more quality time with his family.
