Police Suspect Kidnapper Targeted Other Children, Seek Public's Help

Police in Petah Tikva are investigating the kidnapping of 10-year-old Yahli and suspect the alleged perpetrator may have targeted other minors, as this might not be an isolated incident. Authorities have requested permission to release the suspect's name and photograph to aid in identifying potential additional victims. A court has allowed the publication but delayed the decision until Sunday at noon to allow for an appeal. The suspect's detention has been extended by six days, and the case is expected to be transferred to the State Prosecutor's Office.

New footage reportedly shows the suspect speaking with children at a playground before leaving with Yahli. The young victim, Yahli, was questioned by a child investigator but struggled to recount the events due to emotional distress, not memory loss. The interview was paused and is scheduled to resume later. His mother stated, "My son is suffering greatly, his mental state is very difficult."

Conversely, the suspect's mother claims her son has mental health challenges, rarely communicates with family, and sometimes sleeps outdoors or in shelters. She also alleged he was previously attacked by adults and criminals. His defense attorney described him as a young man with special needs who had previously been in a therapeutic setting.
