Former Players Arrested in Israeli Women's Basketball Match-Fixing Scandal

Police in Israel have arrested three former professional basketball players, two men and one woman, on suspicion of involvement in a match-fixing scheme within the women's premier league. The arrests are part of an investigation into an organized gambling operation aimed at influencing game outcomes for financial gain.

The investigation, conducted secretly for months by the Lahav 433 fraud and gambling unit in cooperation with the Football Association, uncovered evidence of a systematic mechanism designed to manipulate results in exchange for money and profit from bets.

On Tuesday, the investigation moved to its public phase with the apprehension of the three suspects, who are believed to have operated and orchestrated the match-fixing and gambling ring. They were brought in for questioning at the Lahav 433 offices.
